Best Duets of All Time (Mixed)

Attention!!!

A duet is a song performed by two artists. Duets have been a part of the music scene since the beginning of time. The most important thing about a duet is the vocal harmonization as well as the synchronization. In the 50s, 60s and the 70s, duets were sung by most of the mainstream artists and this trend continued into the 80s and 90s as well. Duets as of now in the 21st century are most of the time done for the purposes of commercial success. Relatively unknown artists are chosen by the major artists to perform songs written by the latter or insignificant artists leech up with the popular mainstream ones to become popular or get some hits on YouTube.

What is interesting about this list, is that most of the all time best duets are from the 70s and the 80s and most of these songs are either Pop or R&B. Several artists have been featured on two or more duets on this list such as Linda Ronstadt, Peabo Bryson, Celine Dion, Eminem, Rihanna, Beyonce and James Ingram while Lee Hazlewood and Nancy Sinatra have three of their duets in the top 50. I have recognized only three exceptional duets from Romanian Pop - Stereo Love, Shining Heart and My Passion. However, this list only includes duets of mixed genders and not of the same gender.

Ultimate Hits of the 70s

Attention!!!

The 70s is most probably an acquired taste for those of us who's childhood was in the 90s which led us to worship the artists and bands of pop and alternative. However, in the 70s we see the ascension of disco and its peak in the latter part of the decade. The decade actually belonged to rock. The mainstream was definitely hard rock as the chart toppers were mostly from the head banging artists and bands. Pop music was also gaining momentum but with slower numbers suited for the dancing of that era. There is mostly original music unlike the 90s and 2000s where artists and bands tend to sample and cover the same old song with different beats and twists.

This list is a compilation of the greatest hits released between 1970-1979 by different artists and bands with the exception of a very few artists having collaborated on songs. I have deliberately excluded other double entries for the sole purpose of providing space for one-hit wonders and to prevent artists or bands such as Elton John, Queen and The Beatles from having double entries. Therefore, painstakingly I have had to research and find out the best song released by these artists and bands. Thus, these are the Ultimate Hits of the 70s based on chart performance as well as accolades received.
