Attention!!!

Whilst July has been a very uneventful month on the charts as well as the music industry the heated competition for Song of the Summer continues with Iggy Azalea's Fancy leading the way. The much hyped, anticipated and almost always melodramatic MTV Video Music Awards 2014 is coming up in August. Beyonce and Iggy Azalea heads the nominations with eight each with Eminem close behind with seven. 

Intense competition is expected at the MTV Video Music Awards this year with heavyweights such as Miley Cyrus (Wrecking Ball), Beyonce (Drunk in Love) and Pharrell Williams (Happy) vying for the coveted Video of the Year along with the underdogs Iggy Azalea (Fancy) and Sia (Chandelier). The Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award is to be bestowed on Beyonce for her awesome work in the Video Music industry. 5 Seconds of Summer, Charli XCX, Sam Smith, Fifth Harmony and Schoolboy Q will be battling it out for Artist to Watch. The main show is to include performances by Iggy Azalea, Maroon 5, Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj, Taylor Swift, Zedd, Usher and many more. Altogether the awards show looks to be promising.

Iggy Azalea ft. Charli XCX's Fancy ruled the roost at the Billboard Hot 100 for the first three weeks before being finally ousted by the reggae-fusion hit Rude by Magic!. Maroon 5's Maps and Disclosure ft. Sam Smith's Latch entered the top 10 in July, but neither of which has potential to oust Rude as far as I can say.

In the UK Ariana Grande ft. Iggy Azalea's Problem claimed the top spot for the first week. Thereafter, Will.I.Am ft. Cody Wise's It's My Birthday was numero uno before Rixton's Me and My Broken Heart ousted them. The final week in July belonged to Cheryl Cole ft. Tinie Tempah with her much anticipated single Crazy Stupid Love.
